Pictured above Gabriela Sabatini and Martina Hingis. More about Hingis:

Style: The Swiss Miss would herself have been mortified if excluded from this list or rather line following her positive test for cocaine at last year’s Wimbledon. Websites suggest she boasts a legion of male fans. But could she play? Delightfully. A touch player who was overtaken by the modern power game, she won five Grand Slam titles, including Wimbledon, while still a teenager.

and let us not forget 1919 Champion Suzanne Lenglen

Suzanne Lenglen (France)

Style: nicknamed ‘La Divine’ by the French, she was said to possess the feline grace of a ballerina. She created a sensation at the first post-war Wimbledon in 1919 when wearing flimsy and revealing calf-length cotton frock with short sleeves, a silk chiffon headband and shiney white stockings rolled to the knee.

But could she play? As well as being the first female tennis celebrity, she won six Wimbledon and six French Open titles. Say no more.
