PARIS (AFP) — Women’s world hammer record holder Tatiana Lysenko has been banned for two years for failing a drugs test, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) announced Monday.
Lysenko tested positive in a sample collected out-of-competition by the IAAF in May last year for the prohibited substance “6a-methylandrostendione”, an anti-oestrogenic agent that can block female hormones.
Not only will she miss the Beijing Olympic Games but she will lose her record mark after the IAAF said all her results for two years from May 9, 2007 were disqualified: she set the world record of 78.61m on May 26 of that year.”
