14-year-old Zoe Smith is being reported as the “strongest girl in Britain” and was named one of the British Olympic Association’s Athletes of the Year for 2008.
Zoe, who is 5’2″ and weighs 125lbs, has lifted over 200lbs in the ‘clean and jerk’ event. She represented Britain at the Commonwealth Youth Games in India where she won a gold medal and set a world record for her age and bodyweight by lifting a total of 350lbs in three events. That was one of over 90 records Zoe has set. She now holds every British record, bar one, in the 53kg weight category from senior down to under 14 level. She is being tipped as one of the stars of the 2012 Olympics which will be held in backyard of London, England.
