The NCAA named Susan Jackson, a senior at LSU, as the women’s gymnastics all-around championship. Susan scored 39.625 for four events at the NCAA meet, which still uses the 10-point scoring system, so a 40 would have been perfect. She finished first in vault, uneven bars and balance beam. The all-around title was well deserved and little shock to the gymnastics community. Before entering LSU, she was part of the USA Gymnastics women’s national team and trained at Stars Gymnastics in Houston, Texas.
