From LiveStrong: “The act of curling a dumbbell can train your biceps in a variety of ways. You can train them for size and strength by constantly increasing the amount of weight you are using. You can condition your biceps for endurance by limiting the amount of weight to a maximum of 66 percent of your one rep max, which is the maximal weight you can lift for one repetition, while increasing the number of repetitions. You can also train for speed by using little resistance and increasing the speed of the contracting muscle.
