Kristen Maloney, 29-years-old, was one spot shy of the podium in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. Coming in fourth, she wondered what bronze would have felt like and now, ten years later, she is about to know. The third-place medals were stripped from the Chinese team on April 28, after Olympic officials concluded one of their gymnasts was underage while competing in the 2000 Summer Games. Now the American women’s gymnastics team has been moved to third place and the team will be soon reuniting to receive their bronze medals.
