If you still think that pole dancing is limited to strip clubs, you are missing a whole other world. Pole dancing has come such a long way and is establishing itself as a sport. There is even talk about it trying to slide it’s way in to the Olympics. There are several categories of the ‘sport.’

The four main styles of pole dancing:
* Strictly fitness – no high heels, no costumes and more like a circuit gym class.
* Circus – highly acrobatic, on purpose-built poles, as seen in Cirque du Soleil.
* Dance-based pole – acrobatic moves combined with ‘conventional dance’ moves such as Latin, jazz, hip-hop.
* Sensual pole – using more ‘traditional’ pole moves and generally involves girls dressed in a provocative way.

The 2010 Asia-Pacific Pole Dance Championships will be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on August 28 and 29 and will include men’s, open pairs and women’s divisions. Last years winner (featured in white in the video below) was amazing, and set the bar pretty high for 2010.
