Zheng Jie (pictured above), 26-year-old, world number 35, may be the first Chinese athlete in the Aussie Open quarter finals but she may not be the only one. Li Na (pictured below) will try and move to the next round as the second Chinese athlete in the Aussie Open quarter finals on Monday in a match against fourth seed Caroline Wozniacki.

“I feel tennis is very quickly going up (in popularity) in China,” Zheng said. “You can see a lot of the newspapers coming from China,” she said, pointing to the large number of Chinese reporters in the interview room. I think it (started to become popular) from 2004, Li Ting and Tian Tian won the gold medal from the Olympic Games.”
