Nancy Kerrigan’s life has taken quite a few hits over the years (couldn’t pass that one up), from her run in with Tonya Harding’s (ex)husband, to having a microphone pick up rude comments about the Disney parade she was a part of, which she had to do some clever back pedaling. In 2004, Nancy was inducted into the US Figure Skating Hall of Fame. But now, the Kerrigan family is dealing with the death of Nancy’s father, Daniel Kerrigan who died Jan. 24th at 70-years-old.
It doesn’t stop there, Mark Kerrigan, 45-years-old, Nancy’s brother, has just been released on $10,000 bail for the assault of their father just prior to his death. Much to the objection of the prosecutor, Mark has been released to his mothers home. “There’s concern for the mother’s safety,” said District Attorney’s spokeswoman Jessica Venezia. “She’s a witness in the case.” The death is being looked into as a homicide, but the Kerrigan’s are not blaming the violent struggle. They believe that it was Daniel’s heart condition that lead to his untimely death.
USA Today reported: Daniel Kerrigan was found on the floor of his home, unconscious, by officers who responded to a 911 call at 1:30 a.m. Sunday. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, and results of an autopsy were pending. Police said Mark Kerrigan appeared intoxicated when he was found on a couch in the basement of the home and was “belligerent and combative” but coherent when questioned. Officers used pepper spray to subdue him and eventually arrested him. “He stated that he wanted to use the phone and his father would not let him. He said he struggled with his father and put his hands around his father’s neck and his father fell to the floor,” the arresting officer wrote. Mark Kerrigan told officers that he believed his father was “faking it,” according to the report.
It was rumored that Tonya, (who is no longer a professional boxer; now she is a commentator for Tru TV) wanted to talk to Nancy after the death…about what we wonder? Maybe she wanted to apologize, maybe she wanted to tell her she wasn’t involved, again!
We want to know: Do you think Nancy should forgive Tonya? AND If they went head to head, who do you think would win?
