Alexis Thompson may only be 15-years-old, but she is expected to turn pro after the Curtis Cup, a June competition among the best female amateurs in the United States, Britain and Ireland. Alexis is one of three siblings, all who are golfers. Her older brother, Nicholas, 27-years-old, is on his fourth year in the PGA.
Alexis can often be seen wearing lady bug earrings and carries wind-up lady bugs with her. When she was asked why ladybugs where her good-luck charm, she said, “A few years ago I would always see them, and I’d blow on them so they’d fly away, and I’d make a wish.” Either way, her luck has brought her thus far. Because the minimum age is 18-years-old for inclusion into the LPGA, Alexis will have to petition for special consideration.
