A FIT and healthy mum who was hospitalised with coronavirus today revealed how she feared she’d never see her girls grow up as doctors put her to sleep.
Tara Jane Langston, 39, went viral after she filmed herself in an intensive care unit (ICU) in Hillingdon Hospital, West London as she begged people not to “take any chances” with catching the killer bug.
The mum has since thankfully recovered – but today issued a stark warning over the bug that has so far claimed more than 400 lives in the UK.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain today, Tara revealed: “I thought I was going to die”.
She said: “Looking back on it, it makes my heart skip a beat.
“I was told I was going to be intubated and I didn’t know what that meant.
“When they explained it to me, that I was going to be put to sleep and sedated so my body could fight this – because my body was exhausted – I just thought ‘I’m never going to wake up’.
“I thought ‘I’m not going to wake up, I’m not going to see my girls grow up’.
“It’s very traumatic.”
Tara had filmed herself while in hospital two weeks ago for the deadly bug – with the terrifying image of her going viral.
She was in hospital for nine days, with three days in the ICU.
Tara was finally able to return to her Middlesex home on Mother’s Day.
And today, she again warned: “This is serious for everyone.
“It doesn’t matter what gender you are, what colour you are, what God you believe in.
“No one is immune to this.”
The mum said that while she did not want to make the public more fearful, she wanted people to understand how critical the situation could be.
She told hosts Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard: “If you get it bad, I can assure you it will be one of the most traumatic experience of your life.
“Everytime you breathe it’s like glass.
“You’re so exhausted you can’t breathe.
Don’t take it for granted, it’s not until then that you realize it’s so precious.”
