Trying to get in your workouts first thing in the morning but struggling? For many people, morning workouts are really the only option. After work, other obligations – cranky kids, a demanding spouse, a boss that just never lets you leave – start to crowd out your schedule. Next thing you know, another day has gone by where you haven’t done your session as scheduled.

The problem is that first thing in the morning, you’re a little less than willing to remove yourself from the warm confines of your bed. I’m sure you’ve experienced this before. You’re comfortable, you’re warm, you’re probably still quite sleepy, and the thought of getting up and lifting anything more than a few pounds is something you’d rather just not think about.

How can you force yourself out of bed? Aside from sheer might, try setting two alarm clocks. First, set one right next to your bed. When this one goes off, feel free to pound this one to pieces if you wish when it goes off. Then, set another one across the room. When that one goes off, you’ll have to get up to turn it off. By that point, since you’re up…you might find you just stay up.

…and if that doesn’t work, there’s always coffee.
