When did your path to bodybuilding begin?

I began competing in 2007. I actually began as a figure competitor and changed divisions to bodybuilding in 2009. My intentions were to do one show, but I fell in love with the whole lifestyle and have never looked back.

How long did it take to earn your Pro card?

It took me 6 years to earn my Pro Card. I placed first many times but for bodybuilding you had to win the Overall title to win your pro card. With hard work and persistence I finally took that title!

What’s a normal day in your life look like?

Most of my days start with early morning cardio. I train my clients starting at 6:00 am and then it’s my turn to train around 11:00. I weight train 5 days a week and also do cardio after I train most days, but depends really where I am in prep for a show. Both of my children are involved in school sports and on travel teams so I stay busy with shuffling to practices or going to games. I love watching them play! I also get the normal things that need to be done around the house in between those times or at night such as laundry, dinner, cleaning…. It never ends.

What’s your favorite part about competing?

I love watching my body change. Having that mental focus and pushing myself out of my comfort zone. Seeing improvements and knowing I can change my body by how I eat and train.

What’s your least favorite part about prep?

My least favorite part about prep is finding the time to get everything in that needs to be done. Each year seems to get busier and busier, so I guess it’s a good thing I’m good with my time management. Make the most out of every moment.

What’s been your favorite memory associated with the sport so far?

My favorite memory I think was competing at the Arnold Amateur in 2010. I went into that show really not knowing what to expect. I placed second in my class and was ecstatic!! Walking through the Expo afterwards I felt like a rock star. People wanting to talk to you, take pictures, it was just a fun, memorable time. I would love to make it to the Arnold pro stage soon!

What advice would you give to amateur physique competitors?

When deciding to compete, do your research. Look at pictures of top athletes to see which division you fall into. Train hard and have fun with it.

However, don’t get so caught up in it all and lose balance in your life. Remember it is only a small part of life, there is so much more to enjoy as well. Keep that balance!

What’s your favorite meal immediately after a show is over?

I have a few favorites, it really depends on how I’m feeling at that moment. Sometimes I go for a good steak, baked potato with sour cream and butter and a salad with everything on it – Plus.. Dessert!! Other times, I like sushi. My taste buds vary I guess but it’s always good regardless.

How do you spend your off season?

I spend my off season trying to make improvements for the following year. I always keep my diet pretty clean and train hard throughout. My training may change up a bit but its important to keep that focus if you want to make improvements.

What are you looking forward to the most for 2015?

I’m looking forward to seeing how I have changed my body from last year. I’m transitioning to Women’s Physique so it will be a work in progress. I also look forward to seeing friends at shows that I’ve met during my journey and hopefully meeting new ones.

I love representing my sponsor LoneStar Distribution and I hope to represent them well this year. I love meeting people and inspiring others to live a healthy, active lifestyle.
