Lakeland, Florida’s, All-American Gym hosted the World Association of Bench Pressers and Dead Lifters Drug Free Regional Bench Press and Dead Lift Championship. Jamie Doran changed history and shattered many fragile egos. The former Florida Southern College softball player who weighed in at all of 114 pounds stepped up to win the Best Dead Lifter of the Meet Award. This award has only been placed into the hands of men. She won by lifting 330 pounds, three-times her bodyweight. It was a WABDL state record (and 10 pounds more than her previous state record). Jamie wasn’t alone in her victory. TheLedger.com reported:
Victoria Coscia benched 90 pounds, setting a WABDL world record in the 181-pound class for women age 12-13. She also dead lifted a state record 200 pounds.
McKenzie Baxter set two WABDL Florida records in the age 18-19 category, 165-pound class. She benched 95 pounds and deadlifted 240.
Nancy Georges set two WABDL Florida records in the age 54-60, 123-pound category. She benched 80 pounds and dead lifted 180.
