Patricia Llena, 16-years-old, broke three Asian records and earned three gold medals in the 2010 Asian Powerlifting Championships. She has the honor of competing in the 63 kg weightlifting class at the first Youth Olympics in August. While she is training hard for August, her sights are set on the 2012 London Olympics.
“During the school year, Patricia trains from 5:30 to 6:15 every morning and 5 to 6:30 in the evening after class on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and from 5 to 7 at night on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays,” said her father. “I personally coach Patricia in her weightlifting and powerlifting training.”
They train in a make shift gym in the family garage. Her father introduced her to weights when she was only four and she began competing when she was only 11-years-old.
