The 2nd Gulf Women’s Sports Championships will take place in Dubai later this week and the host, the Dubai’s UAE taekwondo team, think they have what it takes to walk away with a lot of gold.

“This is our event and it is being held in our country, hence it is our responsibility to give of our best. And because we are the hosts it is important for us to try and get a maximum number of gold medals and end as the number one country,” Shaikha Maitha Bint Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum (pictured) told press during a training session. “All of us have put in a lot of hard work and if there is luck by our side then we may end up better than what we are expecting.”

There are eight different weight classes that will compete at the Championships which offer eight different gold medals and eight opportunities for Shaikha and the UAE team to shine.
