Rosi Sexton, the world’s No 1 female bantamweight cage fighter, is not just a fighter with a winning resume. She majored in mathematics at the University of Cambridge and has a PhD in theoretical computer science from the University of Manchester. Rosi is also a former classical musician, is now in her final year for another degree in osteopathy and is a single mother. I can’t think of any end of the spectrum this women is not in.
When talking about her life and lack of time for “friends,” Rosi said she has plenty of bonds in her world. “It’s a fairly tight-knit community,” she says. “I like being around other female fighters. Women seem to be good at being your friend before, and then you get in the ring, and you try to take each other’s heads off, and then you’re friends again.”
