One of the highlights to many undergrads is college spring break. Sunny destinations with string bikini’s, wild parties and little responsibility. But, for Ohio State women’s hockey goaltender, Barbara Bilko, it is a chance to help. This is not a new trend for Barbara, she is known for her philanthropy. Her father, an orthopedic surgeon, began planing a trip to help in the relief effort’s in Haiti when the quakes hit. Barbara, who is studying French, asked if she could go as a translator with her fathers team during spring break. The idea was pitched to the team’s organizers and accepted.
“We’re very busy, but also very fortunate,” Barbara said. “We should just be so grateful and appreciative and give as much back as we can. I try to do that.”
