At the World Championships being held this week Jamaican sprinters continued their dominance on the track. Super sprinter Usain Bolt broke his own world record, and on the female side the Jamaican women went 1st and 2nd, not making a clean sweep as they did at the 2008 Olympics.

22 year old Shelly Ann Fraser, the 2008 Olympic 100m gold medalist, won again in 10.73 seconds, with her teammate Kerron Stewart taking a close 2nd. Jamaica fielded 4 sprinters in the finals – taking up 50% of the spots – not bad for a small island in the sun.

American Carmelita Jeter took 3rd, breaking the Jamaican sweep.
