Monday, March 22nd Ava Cowan, IFBB Pro Figure competitor and Gaspari sponsored athlete made an interesting blog post. She is a true athlete. She is making gains and snubbing the bird-eating habits of most IFBB Figure Pro’s. She is focused on gaining muscle and isn’t afraid of putting on a few pounds in the meantime! Ava turned pro less than a year ago and already has her eyes on the 2010 Olympia!

I just wanted to check in and keep you posted about what is going on in my world. And that is serious off season training and plenty of eating. I am not one of the women that does cardio 6 days a week all year round and eats like a bird. My goal this off season is to build quality muscle and to keep my metabolism revved up as much as possible so that when I start dieting May 15, 2010, it won’t be so painful. I did the same thing last year, and my contest prep was not AS painful as it could have been if I was a year round dieter. In fact, I never did more than 45 minutes of cardio a few days a week mixed with a few days of HIIT. I may not like the fact that I am not “ripped” right now but I fully understand that I have ONE GOAL in mind, and that is to step on the Figure Olympia stage this year.

But first things first, I have to qualify and that begins with my first attempt in Jacksonville, Florida on August 7, 2010 at the Dexter Jackson’s show.

I think about it, I dream about it, it is all that I can think about. Right now I lift harder and heavier than ever before. Tunnel vision.
