A mum of three who whose body was 20 per cent fat has transformed her figure to become a competitive bodybuilder .
Rachel Turner was inspired after seeing how former glamour model Jodie Marsh had completely changed her body shape after taking up the sport.
The 40 year old who used to gorge on junk food said she loves her new lifestyle and body shape , adding: “I love showing off my new figure.
“I don’t wear a one piece, I wear a two piece bikini, the smaller the better.”
Rachel contacted Jodie’s trainer, Tim Sharp, and asked him to help her to become a bodybuilding champion.
At the time the mother-of-three from Thorpe Bay, Southend-on-Sea, weighted more than 12 stone.
On a typical day, she would eat chocolate croissants with a large cappuccino with full fat milk and three sugars for breakfast, followed by a mid-morning snack of digestive biscuits with another cappuccino.
For lunch, she would eat an egg mayonnaise sandwich, crisps and chocolate, washed down with a fizzy drink, while dinner would be pizza, curry or fried chicken with chips.
She would snack throughout the afternoon on cake, chocolate and pastries and indulge in more crisps and fizzy drinks for supper.
She said she felt trapped in a cycle of unhealthy eating, she said: “I was unhappy so I ate, I ate so I was unhappy.”
he said: “I decided it was time to change, not just for my sake but for my children.
“I saw Tim’s website and immediately noticed that he was behind the radical transformation to Jodie.
“So from that point on my mind was set that I was going to contact him and get started.”
Trainer Tim recalled: “I received a call from Rachel.
“She had a goal, to change her body fast and hopefully compete in a bodybuilding show.
“She had kept my number for a month and had thought about deleting it but built up the courage to call.
“A few days later we met and I assessed Rachel’s body fat, lean mass and we set our goal.
“Rachel was 12 stone and 20 per cent body fat and would have to lose significant fat and gain muscle to compete at the highest standard.”
Tim put Rachel on a high protein diet and told her to drop all the sugary snacks in favour of supplements and protein drinks to help her build muscle.
She lost more than four stone in six months.
In conjunction with her new diet, she also undertook daily intense workouts in the gym doing squats, lunges and bench presses with weights so that she’s now toned and defined every muscle in her body.
After six months, she was ready to compete in her first bodybuilding competitions. She entered the National Amateur Bodybuilding Association (NABBA) trained figure class competitions where she placed second, earning a spot in the British Championships.
he then continued to work out harder so by the time of the British champs, she had gained 10kg in muscle and had less than five per cent body fat.
She finished in sixth place gaining qualification to the NABBA Universe competition.
Nearly a year on from when first took up the sport, Rachel has gained sponsorship from LA Muscle ( www.lamuscle.com ) and a TV show on The Active Channel which shows her transformation.
Now the mother intends to compete in British Natural Bodybuilding Federation competitions as well as NABBA ones. She’d also like to compete in America in 2016.
