Ronda Rousey kept her promise and went to the Marine Corp Ball with Lance Cpl. Jarrod Haschert over the weekend, and she had nothing but good things to say about the date.
She told TMZ: “He was a real gentleman and a real sweetheart. It was the only smiling I’ve been doing, I think.”
In August, Haschert, a big fan of the fighter/actress, asked Rousey out with a video he posted on Facebook. A week later, the 28-year-old professional told TMZ she would go with Haschert “for sure.”
Some wondered if she would still go to the ball after getting knocked out at UFC 193 by Holly Holm last month, handing Rousey her first career loss in 13 MMA match-ups. The hit required Rousey to get stitches on her lip and also loosened some of her teeth.
But Rousey did end up attending the ball. However, she didn’t dance.
Upon returning to Los Angeles on Saturday, she revealed, “I don’t dance in public.”
She plans on keeping in touch with Haschert, saying, “I told him that I would be personally offended if he ever came in town and didn’t hit me up.”
Prior to attending the ball, Rousey said she was motivated to go because it would keep her wallowing in self-pity.
“Honestly, I probably would stay on my couch crying and eating ice cream for like another month if he didn’t ask me to go,” reported WebProNews.
