New Division in NPC/IFBB: Women’s Physique

Spread the love

“Here is a summary of the new women’s physique, please do not be too muscular, nor too skinny, no fancy footwork and no shoes or sneakers, no jumping up and down, just turning round and round, 1/4 turn at a time..warning you muscle mass may “compromise femininity”, not sure whether Michelle Obama could compete here.” – Lori Braun

Women’s Physique Division will be more muscular than Figure without the size and conditioning in Bodybuilding, a classic look.

Women’s Physique will begin in 2011, but will only be held with NPC national competitions. Tentatively starting with NPC Jr. Nationals then Team Universe, USA & Nationals. No local, state or regional competitions will have them in 2011. Also with an IFBB Professional League division in 2012. Details & rules still being worked out. But the competitors will be barefoot, no heels.

Women’s physique division (herein referred to as “WP”) has been created to give a platform for women who enjoy weight training, competing, contest preparation. Competitors should display a toned, athletic physique showcasing femininity, muscle tone, beauty/ flow of physique.

* Symmetry, Shape, Proportion, Muscle Tone, Poise and Beauty Flow
* Physique assessment and comparison will take place during prejudging

Physique should display all of the above criteria without compromising femininity, beauty/ flow of physique, etc.
The following are examples of common terms used in the bodybuilding industry. These words can be helpful to assess what should not be descriptive to the physiques being judged in WP: ripped, shredded, peeled, striated, dry, diced, hard, vascular, grainy, massive, thick, dense, etc. while all types of physiques will be considered when it comes to height, weight, structure, etc. Excessive muscularity should be scored down accordingly.

WP should be judged as a standard between women’s bodybuilding.

Yay!!! Now that my crohn’s disease is in remission while getting my health back on track I’m finally able to work on getting back in shape and work on making a come back to stage and with this new WP division I’ll be shooting for the 2012 introduction to the IFBB Pro level. I believe this is a new lease on my competitive career (as Bob Chicherillo stated to me) just as long I stay healthy and my crohn’s does not set me back again. I lost a good solid 30lbs of muscle due to Crohn’s Disease and I don’t think I’ll be able to get that back without compromising my health so it’s a blessing to me that this new WP division has been introduced. I look forward to see how this all pans out.

Women’s Fitness now looks like Bodybuilding did when it started.
My be is it will evolve right back again, bigger, faster etc.
Re install testing do what u want it will not make a difference.
Someone will start and then they all have do do it to compete.
I get the feeling this is Weider’s last ditch attempt to get Bodybuilding into the Olympics before he and his brother die.
Good luck with that Ben, Joe.

I’m so very excited with this division coming about! I am preparing for my first NPC show in August and I’m very in the middle… too muscular for Figure but I do not want to be overly muscular for bodybuilding.. I’m one of those “right in the middle”.

I’m ecstatic, nervous, anxious, excited and very much looking forward to this new endeavor! This division is already gaining great popularity and I know someone who just got her Pro card last July, 2011, here at the USA’s in Las Vegas, NV!

I am looking forward to this, working hard, motivated from within and I can only do the best I can do, while continuing to be a Work In Progress.. and always room for improvement!
