Laura Cain, 21-years-old, has a sports resume that includes ballet, fitness competitions, dancing, gymnastics and now pole vaulting. Currently she is a pole vaulter for Scottsdale Community College in Arizona.
“I love dance. Dance was the first thing I was in. I got bored with that at age 13, so I switched to gymnastics. When that ended I switched to pole vaulting,”
About a year ago while in college, Laura was encouraged to look into pole vaulting. When Laura finally tried it, the coach put a pole in her hand and said “here you go this is what you do.” She was a natural and instantly found a new love and passion.
“With pole vaulting I have the drive to keep pushing myself. I don’t need anyone to push me. It’s the drive that I have within myself that makes me want to be better,” Cain said. “I want to go to the Olympics. I would stay here at SCC and train with my coach and hopefully I will make it,”
