Filipina weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz won three bronze medals in the 2015 International Weightlifting Federation World Championship in Houston, Texas to remain on track for a third straight Olympic stint.

The 24-year-old Diaz, the Philippines’ flag bearer in the 2012 London Games, won bronze in the snatch, clean and jerk, and total categories of the women’s 53-kg division.

She placed behind China’s Chen Xiaoting and Chinese Taipei’s Hsu Shu-Ching in all three categories.

Diaz lifted 96kg in the snatch and 117kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 213 kg. Chen (101 kg) won the snatch, followed by Hsu (96 kg); Hsu then ruled the clean and jerk (125 kg) while Chen lifted 120 kg.

Meanwhile, Filipino weightlifter Nestor Colonia won bronze in the men’s clean and jerk as well.

Weightlifting honorary chair Monico Puentevella, speaking to the Philippine Star, said he believes both Diaz and Colonia “will qualify for Rio.”

Diaz won three golds in the 2015 Asian Championships in Thailand last September.
