ancouver-born MMA fighter (Unstoppable) Angela Lee improved to 4-0-0 with a second-round submission win over Poland’s Lena Tkhorevska on One Championship’s “Spirit of Champions” card.
Lee, 19, won by rear naked choke at three minutes 26 seconds of the second round Thursday night before a soldout Mall of Asia Arena.
The teenage MMA fighter was born in Canada to parents from Singapore and South Korea and grew up in Hawaii where she now makes her home.
Lee’s 17-year-old brother Christian won his pro debut on the same card, stopping Australian David Meak 29 seconds into the fight.
But it was a different story in the main event for Vancouver heavyweight Paul (Typhoon) Cheng, who fought on just four days notice. Former UFC fighter Brandon (The Truth) Vera knocked Cheng out in 26 seconds to become the inaugural One heavyweight champion.
Vera (14-7-0) toppled Cheng (5-2-0) with a left hook and high kick, finishing him off with hammer-fists.
Cheng was a late replacement for England’s Chi Lewis-Parry, who did not submit the required medical forms, according to a One spokesman.
Lewis-Parry, a six-foot-nine former European pro basketball player, disputed that, saying via social media that he planned legal action against the Asian-based promoter.
