Serena Williams was under heavy Twitter scrutiny during her record-setting match on Saturday for reasons completely unrelated to tennis. As if a patronus from a needy wizard, J.K. Rowling came to the rescue.
During Williams’ game — good for the sixth Wimbledon championship of her astounding career — Twitter trolls practiced the female-athlete-specific version of body-shaming, making cracks about Williams’ muscular physique.
To one in particular, who equated muscles to masculinity, the iconic “Harry Potter” author offered the social-media equivalent of “Stupefy!”
.@diegtristan8 “she is built like a man”. Yeah, my husband looks just like this in a dress. You’re an idiot. pic.twitter.com/BCvT10MYkI

That’s catching the golden snitch. End the fight, Rowling has won. Earlier Saturday, the legendary author had established her Serena credentials, posting a picture of the two that contains just a baffling amount of talent.
I'm #TeamSerena today, because you don't meet many super-talented people nicer than she is. Go @serenawilliams! pic.twitter.com/KHDYNCt6Ls
