The fledgling Natural Female Bodybuilding Coalition (NFBC) announced yesterday that it will host a forum at the Hyatt Place in Rancho Cordova, CA, on July 12 from 6-8 P.M. (PST) to discuss female natural bodybuilding: what it was, what it has become, and where it is going.
The Natural Female Bodybuilding Coalition is a newly-formed league of well-known and respected natural female bodybuilding champions organized to promote and educate women about bodybuilding in an effort to keep the sport alive and well! After all, the multiple sports of women’s figure, fitness, physique, fit body & bikini – relatively new to the sporting scene – all originated from women’s bodybuilding!
“Over the last several years, there has been a decline in media coverage of female bodybuilders and showing more favor to figure and fitness models,” says NFBC co- founder and champion bodybuilder Katy Wayman-White. “Therefore, a majority of women have chosen to compete In figure, fitness, and now bikini. Let’s face it, we are influenced by what we see and hear, as well as by what we DON’T see or don’t hear. Can it be that female bodybuilding is out of sight – out of mind?”
“Our goal is to get back to basics with specific, practical information regarding women’s physique competitions aka female bodybuilding,” echoes fellow co-founder Tina Smith, promoter with her husband Bob Bell of the upcoming IFPA Pro USA and NANBF California Natural Muscle Mayhem Bodybuilding & Figure Championships just two days later on July 14 in Sacramento. “You’ll leave feeling energized, educated, inspired and motivated!” says Smith about the forum.
“Oh, and the contest will be pretty good too,” she laughs.
Topics of discussion at the forum will include:
Perception of women with muscle.
Training – how to build a muscular, healthy, and eye pleasing physique.
Diet and Nutrition for bodybuilding and life.
Posing, stage presentation and posing routines.
Benefits of competing as a bodybuilder
Keeping the sport alive (promoting ideas). What can we do to help others experience the joy we have found in it?
Among the great figure and bodybuilding titleholders personally attending the roundtable will be Chrissy Zmijewski , Michelle Shepard, Trish Wood, and Joan Lopez. Others, participating remotely (by Skype and phone), include Arlene Lurey, Jan Rowlett , and Nancy Andrews .
Listen to what these great champions of the stage have to say about what it is to be a Natural Female Bodybuilder and what the differences are between figure and bodybuilding. What they have to say about the sport of female natural bodybuilding –from a unique female perspective – should be a real eye-opener.
“It should be a hoot,” agrees natural bodybuilding champ and fellow NFBC roundtable organizer Terri Reeves, “and totally captivating. Count on it!”
The round-table discussion will follow an open Q&A format, and interested participants are encouraged to RSVP at 916-396-0909 or by email at nanbfcal@ranchomurieta.org. Special gifts will be presented to all participants.
NOTE: Readers can meet many of the roundtable participants in person at the 2012 IFPA Pro Natural USA and NANBF California Natural Muscle Mayhem Bodybuilding & Figure Championships (click link for further information) on July 14 at the Sheldon High School Performing Arts Center in Sacramento.
