The Phoenix Mercury have another reason to celebrate. Not only are they the champions of the WNBA but President Barack Obama tipped his hat calling them role models for the nation’s girls.
Obama is known for his passion for basketball and welcomed the Phoenix Mercury to the White House after their second WNBA championship. During the visit he noted he lives with “three tall, good-looking women who are quite competitive and push me around under the boards all the time.”
The White House women may be tall but many of the Mercury players towered over Obama in their heels during the meet and greet. He also said he wants his two daughters to know there is nothing contradictory about women being beautiful, healthy, athletic and competitive.
