Emily Scarratt, a 19-year-old rugby player for England’s women’s squad,? is making waves and being by-passed. She is an amazing player who can step into several positions and not even blink. She has an average of 12 tries (touchdowns) in 12 games. When asked about the attention regarding to her not looking like a rugby player she simply said:

“It is about being comfortable with yourself and your choices. On the pitch, in training, in the gym, we are just rugby players. How people present themselves in their private life is completely different and no-body’s business. Some people have issues with that, but the girls are all happy with themselves. There are no issues at all for us.When it comes to talking about me and rugby, I prefer to be known for the 12 tries that I scored in 12 games, rather than the way I look. The 12 tries is the important stat. Everything else comes afterwards. I’m a rugby player first. Rugby is what I’m about.”

Women’s rugby, like many women’s sports, does not receive the attention it deserves. Emily is being said to be among the best England has seen. She has certainly proven herself this far, even if the media ignores her as the athlete she is on the pitch.? Emily? is looking toward making big plays at the next world cup and bring more attention and? recognition to the sport for England and the world.
