Caster Semenya, 19-years-old, has finally been cleared to compete as a woman after an investigation by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). Caster has not been in a race since her 800-meter win at last summer’s World Championships in Berlin and critics raised questions about her gender.
Last year, it was reported that Caster had an intersex condition; or, as the IAAF general secretary, Pierre Weiss, crassly put it: “She is a woman but maybe not 100 per cent.”
Caster, still a teenager, has been blasted over the medial with intimate details of her life and integrity in question. It would be extremely hard for anyone to go through, but to also watch your career be in limbo, when your talent is so obvious, must be impossible.
IAAF’s full s statement posted on its website reading: “The process initiated in 2009 in the case of Caster Semenya (RSA) has now been completed. The IAAF accepts the conclusion of a panel of medical experts that she can compete with immediate effect. Please note that the medical details of the case remain confidential and the IAAF will make no further comment on the matter.”
In light of everything that has happened, Caster has taken a more feminine look as can be seen in the picture above.
The medical details of the case remain confidential.
