Well, that’s the way I see it.
Jessica Simpson’s “immense weight gain” is one of the bigger stories circulating in the celebrity news genre. I clicked on to see some pics – expecting to see a total whale or something – and was greeted with pics similar to the before and after below. Now granted, she isn’t in the same great shape she was prior but she’s hardly heading into “Jerry Springer TV show get the crane to lift me from my bed” territory.

The stories prompted her sister fellow singer Ashlee Simpson to defend her on her blog, making what I think are pretty good points:
I am completely disgusted by the headlines concerning my sister’s weight. A week after the inauguration and with such a feeling of hope in the air for our country, I find it completely embarrassing and belittling to all women to read about a woman’s weight or figure as a headline on Fox News.
All women come in different shapes, sizes, and forms and just because you’re a celebrity, there shouldn’t be a different standard.
Is this something you would say to your wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, or even a friend?
I seriously doubt it.
