Five-time Wimbledon champion Venus Williams takes a loss in the quarter finals at the Australian Open from Li Na. Not only does that mean that China has, for the first time, athletes in the semi-finals at the Aussie Open, but it guarantees China’s first top ten ranked tennis athlete.
“It’s so exciting, maybe I take the beer tonight,” Li said when asked about her victory. “The goal, my goal this year was (to be in) the top ten. But now in only January, it’s come quickly, but I didn’t think about that. I know the tournament is not finished, it’s not at the end so hopefully I can continue (winning).”
