Tina and Beverly Crawford (mother and daughter respectively) compete together nationally in women’s power lifting competitions. Beverly (pictured above) began competing when her brothers football coach said he could make a champion out of her, and that is exactly what he did! She is now a four-time national champion. Most recently, she won the United States Powerlifting Women’s Nationals competition in Cleveland, Ohio and qualified for the USAPL/IPF Sub Junior World Powerlifting Championship in Prague this August.
“It was an awesome feeling,” Beverly said. “I worked really hard for it.”
Tina began to train and compete when the same coach asked her if she wanted to join in, rather than watch, she became a participant. Now they compete together. She is making her own name in the sport by also winning a national title at the competition in Cleveland after competing for only two years.
