Christine’s tips for an effective triceps pressdown, source MuscleandFitnessHers Online:
“Your back must be very straight,” insists Christine of this triceps standard. “Also, keep your elbows stable by your sides throughout the movement.” Proper position, she says, will emphasize the triceps rather than involving other bodyparts, such as the shoulders. Standing erect in front of the cable stack with knees slightly bent, Christine takes a grip just outside shoulder-width on the straight bar and squeezes her triceps as she presses the bar to full extension, then returns slowly on the negative to chest height. “It’s a 1-0-3 pace: one second to contract and push the bar down, then release very slowly on the negative for three seconds. Since I go pretty heavy right now, I don’t hold the contraction at the bottom.”
