Teresa Johnson, 20-years-old, has spent a lot of time in competition but only the last four years on the track. In her younger years, she showed and jumped horses with the Metchosin Pony Club. Her need for speed took over and she traded in her reigns for an engine.
Her pit crew couldn’t be closer. It is made up of her mom Diane, dad Larry, brother Kevin, and boyfriend Kevin Potts.
“She’s not afraid of anything. She’s just goes out there and gives it,” Diane said. “It’s an adrenalin thing for her, and an adrenalin thing for me, too.”
Teresa noted that for the most part the other competitors are supportive, but there are certainly people who don’t the track is a good place for a girl. But, Theresa is exactly where she wants to be, racing for the checkered flag.
