I have always wanted to be a bodybuilder since I was a little girl. I use to watch the women of GLOW and American gladiator wishing I was them. In high school we had a bodybuilding class where of course I was the only female.
As a competitor I hope to keep the sport appealing and fun for new comers to join the ranks. I want women’s bodybuilding to stand the test of time.
Role Models:
This has been such a journey and I have received so much love and support from my friends. My biggest influence is my husband Timothy Martin, he is my biggest motivator. As far as role models go I would say first my coach P.D. Devers he is a great coach and second (although she doesn’t know) Juanita Blaino, she has the most beautiful physique.
Pre-contest training and nutrition philosophy:
As far as training goes I lift as heavy as possible, for as many reps as possible, for as long as possible. I would call myself the “Drop-set Queen” because I often workout out alone and the best way for me to train to failure is to go heavy then drop-set drop-set drop-set drop-set! My nutrition is fairly simple I’ve learned to love carbs and appreciate the function and purpose for my body. I feel as though the key component of my transformation was allowing myself to have more food.
Motivation:
What keeps me motivated is the thought of standing on that stage with the greats i.e. Iris, Debbie, Alaina, Yaxeni and looking as though I belong. My Pro debut will be the Toronto Pro.
Interesting facts:
Because of my love for fitness and anything to do with staying healthy, I am pursuing my masters in Sports Medicine. I know it will be difficult to accomplish with me competing and having a home and 4 kids to take care of. But I feel that it is more important for them to see me accomplish my goals despite the obstacles.
