The IFBB has announced a major change to pro level fitness competitions; they have eliminated the 45 second routine and also the one piece round.
For those totally unfamiliar with fitness contests they prior had four rounds; a 2 piece and 1 piece bikini rounds where the physiques were judged and 2 routine rounds where the competitors performed aerobic routines. One (prejudging) was a 45 second routine with mandatory moves and the other (finals) was a 2 minute routine.
The one piece and the 45 second routine are now officially wacked.
This is being met quite well by many fitness competitors, understandably so as the added 2 rounds are, frankly speaking, a pain in the ass requiring a fair amount of extra time and money invested.
I will sneakily be a bit of a naysayer here and wonder if this is a sign of things to come? Fitness numbers have long been declining with many women opting for the (routine less) figure category, and this new ruling seems to coincide with the new bikini category. This rule effectively cuts the fitness contests to 50% of what they were. Hmmmmmm?
