Playboy named their 2009 Playmate of the Year at Las Vegas’s Palms Hotel & Casino on May 2nd, and it was a first for the publishers; an African model. Previously African-Americans had earned the honor, but Ida Ljungqvist became the first African born model to win the coveted Playboy of the Year award. Along with the title of 50th Playmate of the Year, the 27-year-old won $100,000 in prize money and a new Mazda6 car.
