According to researchers, chimpanzees enter into “deals” whereby they exchange meat for sex. Since female chimps do not usually hunt, “they have a hard time getting it on their own,” explained Dr Gomes, the lead researcher on the project.
The researchers also say “meat for sex hypothesis” had already been proposed to explain why male chimps might share with females, which I take to surmise that chimps just won’t be sharing without a promise of a ‘little action’.
*As a disclaimer and in the spirit of honesty, the photo above is actually of two female chimps [lesbians?] so it technically doesn’t suit this post – but it most suitable I could find. There appear not to be too many photos of chimps having sex around strangely enough.
