Dear Dr Dave
I have subscribed to your newsletter for a while now. I have contemplated getting into bodybuilding about 5 years ago. However, I was diagnosed with breast cancer 3 years ago and concentrated on that since. I am now ready to give it a go and get myself into prime shape. I usually work 9-10 hours a day, M-F, on top of being a full-time mom (and grandma) and wife. I am active on a few Boards and community groups that take up some evening time. I exercise (mostly upper body by paddling canoe) twice a week – sometimes more. My diet is not the best. I don’t usually eat breakfast, but I do eat dinner late and mostly consists of a meat and white rice. What would you suggest I do to get started?
Dr Dave Says:
I didn’t catch your age or height and weight and any other serious medical history you may have. Firstly, let me wish you well and a strong and long recovery from your breast cancer. Did you have surgery regarding the breast cancer?

You also seem to have very little time in your busy life. On the other hand, people have time for what they want to do, and very little time for things they do not want to do.
I would start by using an eliptical machine 15 minutes a day. That will work out your whole body.
You ought eat some sort of breakfast each day to prevent low blood sugar as well as too much stomach acid which can dissolve your esophagus.
I have a few questions for you:
What is your age height and weight
Last time you had your blood tested for fasting blood sugar (glucose) , cholesterol , lipids, thyroid levels and CBC?
What sort of work do you do? Office? Outside? physical labor?
Were you a body builder earlier in your life?
Be in touch and I hope these words help you a little…
dr dave
