Michelle Nazaroff of Australia underwent Open Heart Surgery in 2004 and had her aortic and pulmonary valves replaced, and it was expected she would never compete again.
She says “due to my strong belief in myself and passion for the sport I decided I would show everyone who doubted me that you could get back on the figure stage after undergoing life saving surgery“.
She competed in 2005 winning her class in 2 events, and recently won the 2009 Elite Titles in Australia, winning $2,500 Australian dollars.
