It was a busy weekend. Iris Kyle returned to the pinnacle, and Jay Cutler regained his crown. Bodybuilding.com was raided, and Flex Magazine, along with the IFBB, held a massive bikini contest on the Olympia stage.
But now that my muscle hangover has been washed away with a protein shake and 2 Advil, and the dust has settled, I’m shocked…truly shocked, about one aspect of the weekend.
What is this shocking event? The Flex Magazine Bikini Contest.
You might have a hard time believing this, but I find the Bikini contest to be an Olympian-sized blunder. Nearly 100 women were parading around on the Olympia stage, a good share of them a complete disgrace to the hallowed ground that they walked upon.
Many of these women looked like their diet consisted of Doritos and 12 ounce curls. And while some of them obviously cared about their physiques and their health, many of the women had no business entering anything even remotely called a contest.
It is not my wish nor desire to demean these women. I’m sure they tried hard. And I give them credit for trying. But to Flex Magazine and the IFBB…shame on you. SHAME ON YOU!
If ever there was a moment in time that defined why Pro Bikini shouldn’t have a place on the same stage as highly dedicated female bodybuilders, it was this Olympia weekend.
Sorry bodybuilding.com, but even your blunder was nothing compared to the mess left on stage by the Flex Magazine Bikini Contest. Here are real images of women from the contest. Judge for yourself:
