Tanya Angus was 5-foot-11 and 115 pounds before she noticed her body starting to change at age 20. Today, at 30 years old she is 6ft 6 inches and 480 pounds. She is continuing to grow each year.
She suffers from the rare disorder acromegaly, also known as gigantism. Acromegaly is also a side effect of GH abuse and seen on smaller scales on some bodybuilders.
In Tanya’s case, a tumor that wrapped around her pituitary gland in the base of her brain forced it to secrete excessive amounts of growth hormone. Wrestler Andre the Giant had the same condition; so does actor Richard Kiel, who played “Jaws” in the James Bond movies.
She says she hates it, and cannot stand to look in the mirror at herself. Sad to say, doctors say there is no cure for her condition.
