Danica Patrick Taking It To The Track

The good ‘ole boys may be making way for the tight curves of Danica Patrick that would make anyone hit the breaks. Danica Patrick is not new to the racing circiut, but she is making her smoking hot physique secondary to her turn-by-turn skills. Her good looks were a help getting sponsors like GoDaddy during her triumph in the IndiCar Series, but it is her talent behind the wheel that has NASCAR looking at her as a new driver. It isn’t just NASCAR looking at her either, it’s Dale Earnhardt Jr.

“She has a lot of those intangible values in a race car driver that are really important but that you don’t learn,” Earnhardt Jr. said.  “There’s a lot of things inside when it comes to initiative and willpower and passion that either you have it or you don’t have that.”

Danica has it all. It will be interesting if the good ‘ole boys go against ‘homegrown tradition’ and welcome the talent of a star.

Danica Patrick – “Was a Joke”

IndyCar star Danica Patrick insists her drug comments were ‘just a bad joke’ after the comments caused a mini ruckus after being printed in Sports Illustrated magazine.

In the interview Danica was asked if she could take a performance-enhancing drug and not get caught, she would do it if it meant she would win the Indianapolis 500.

“Well, then it’s not cheating, is it? If nobody finds out?” she said. The interviewer responded: “So you would do it?”, and Patrick replied: “Yeah, it would be like finding a gray area. In motorsports, we work in the gray areas a lot. You’re trying to find where the holes are in the rule book.

Danica Patrick Thoughts from a Female Journalist

danica_patrick.jpgSalt Lake Tribune, June 1, 2008: “I’m not a big fan of car racing. I don’t really understand the excitement in watching cars go around and around a track. But I have to say I’m liking Danica Patrick more and more.
Being female, I take a little personal satisfaction when females succeed in traditionally male-dominated sports. I don’t like it when female athletes are better known for their looks than their accomplishments. Anna Kournikova was a superstar, but I wondered how good of a tennis player she’d be if she had used the court as a serious stage for her athletic talents rather than a stage to flaunt her looks.
With Patrick, everyone seems happy and entertained.
Patrick has the looks to appease those who need such qualities in female athletes before they pay attention to them. She has marketed herself well, understanding the importance of interviews, meet-and-greets with fans and the star power an appearance in Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit edition bring.
