Although bodybuilding is not part of the Asian Games in China this year, it is not stopping the sport from having a vibrant year and growing in Asia. Singapore has recently announced they will be hosting the inaugural (WBPF) World Senior Women’s Fitness Physique and Senior Women’s Model Physique competitions in September this year.
Physique competitions are really big for women in Europe, and Singapore has decided to be a part of this growing sport. It is estimated that there will be over 120 athletes, from 20 countries at the competition.
M Letchmenon, president of the the Singapore Bodybuilding & Fitness Federation said: “This is an event that they will be very interested in and very popular in Asia, because in Hong Kong, Korea and Japan it has been introduced. I thought it is the best time to … introduce this and encourage more … women to participate.”
