There are so many things in life that I want to do but have always been restricted due to bodybuilding. I admit that these restrictions were self-made but I wanted to be the best and I was willing to do anything to get there. To elaborate, I restricted myself from serious relationships, family, friends, and just life in general. I felt that I had to have that sense of independence and control to be my absolute best. Now I can see how silly this all appears.

Things that seem so important one day can seem completely irrelevant the next. I think this all ties in with me growing older and realizing what really matters in life, understanding that my friends and family and strong relationships create happiness for me. For the last 2 years I have been struggling to let bodybuilding go; feeling scared and afraid of being lost without my sense of achievement. I am so happy to say that I have finally come to ends with those thoughts.

I can not say that I will “never” compete again but I can say that I am the happiest I have ever been just living life day to day, knowing that I have made a positive difference in women’s bodybuilding and others lives.

The 2009 Jr NPC Jr Nationals champion defines this, California born Suzanne Germano won the bodybuilding overall at the National level show this past weekend. She formerly weighed 185lbs and lost over 60lbs.

She started lifting weights in 1995, and initially competed as a figure competitor, making the bodybuilding switch recently.

A former skier, she represented the USA at the World Winter Games for the Disabled in Innsbruck Austria in 1984. Yup – the disabled games….Suzanne is also legally blind.

Competitors with inspirational stories like this, you have to really admire. Best of luck to Suzanne in her future competitions.

This year will be the first year the NPC Jr Nationals has the Bikini division.

There are 4 weight classes for the Women’s Bodybuilding, 7 weight classes for Men’s Bodybuilding, 3 height classes for Fitness competitors, 6 height classes for Figure competitors and 6 height classes for Bikini. There will be three Fitness pro cards, four Figure pro cards and 4 Bikini pro cards awarded.

The 5 foot tall 115lb Ariel is a level 10 gymnast, fitness/figure competitor, and a 2nd degree black belt in TaeKwonDo. She has won numerous titles, such as Ms Jr Fitness International, and Miss Jr Fitness America. An all-round athlete, she competes at level 10 gymnastics both in state and out of state, and has won state, regional, and national titles and is also a 7-time qualifier and medalist in the Junior Olympic TaeKwonDo championships,
