Sarah stumbled upon the sport in an effort to try something new out and fell in love. Her parents don’t share the same enthusiasm.

“They remain silent. I tell them about it and invite them. My mom said she doesn’t want to see someone hit me and run down to the cage and tell them to stop. … Maybe they will get into it more as the years go by,” she said.  Continue Reading…

Q: This was supposed to happen in November. How come it was delayed until now?

Kaufman: I think the main reason it got delayed was in order to establish that it could be a title fight and just get it organized enough to make it a title fight.

They kind of decided toward the beginning of October that we were going to have this fight, and I just don’t think they had enough time to really figure out the division and what they were going to be doing with it.

Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos Defends Her Title

Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos will step into the ring with Marloes Coenen on January 30th in Florida to defend her 145-pound Strikeforce title. Marloes is best known for her submission skills, while Cristiane has six of her eight wins from TKO’s via strikes. Marloes has openly said she is not afraid to stand toe-to-toe with Cristiane telling press:

“People have been focusing on my ground game but my stand-up is good. My striking is always improving. I put down Roxanne (Modafferi) with one punch and I have knocked out others in my career. I don’t think that it’ll go five rounds at all. Putting the type of fighters we are together, it won’t go the distance. I’m not going to reveal very much of my game plan, but I will say that if the fight goes to the ground, it’s not going to stay there.”

We’ll find out just what Marloes has to offer the determined Cristiane on the 30th.
