Reigning Fitness Champ OUT of Olympia

News via Hardbody.com that routine queen Jennifer Hendershott is out of the 2009 IFBB Olympia. The absence of Jen, who won last year’s Olympia as well as this years Arnold Classic, leaves the field open for a new champion.

Graham, NC – Two-time Ms. Olympia and Ms. Fitness International Jen Hendershott will be a spectator at this years’ Fitness Olympia in Las Vegas.

“The fitness industry has been very good to me. It is time for me to give back. I love working with people who aspire to improve themselves. I will focus on my new supplement company PGN, my training program Get Phat Online, Phat Camp, Get Phat Promotions and the many other projects that I am currently working on. “

Jen has been a competitive fitness athlete for over 12 years. She is the current raining Ms. Olympia and Ms Fitness International.

“I am not retiring but rather taking some time to work on the many other things that I am passionate about.”

Fitness, Sex Change & Boxing

36 year old boxer Angel McKenzie, who has started the procedure for a sex change, apparently to be able to fight men in the ring (read original post here), has also competed in a bodybuilding show.

According to Womenboxing.com, Angel McKenzie is also a female Bodybuilder – in September 2006 being the Runner Up in the U.K. B.F.F. North East Championship Fitness Division.

Kim Chizevsky: Jack of All Trades

kim17_tt

Kim Chizevsky is unique in the IFBB having competed in three divisions professionally; bodybuilding, fitness and figure making her [to the best of my knowledge] the only person to do so.

A 4 time Ms Olympia Champion, she switched to fitness in 2001, and then to figure in 2003. She never experienced the same success in fitness and figure as she did with bodybuilding, but her variation must be admired.

The photo posted above shows her in her bodybuilding heyday, and the two below [click to enlarge] show her competing in figure at the 2004 IFBB Show of Strength Pro Championship where she placed 7th.

Youngest Pro Ever?

Hate to sound old and all, but I have been in this game for almost 20 years now….and I think new pro Victoria Larvie may be the youngest IFBB professional in history at age 17?

I did google frantically to see if anyone more reliable then myself confirmed this – to no avail. Either way, she is definitely one of the youngest ever, if not the youngest.

The 17 year old won the short class in fitness at the 2009 NPC JR Nationals held this past weekend in Illinois which qualified her for pro status.

Fitness Pro Turns Triathlete

On May 17th IFBB fitness pro Julie Lohre competed in a triathlon and she placed 30th out of over 100 women and 8th in her age class. A very impressive result no doubt, but even more impressive is that Julie did this for charity – all proceeds benefited Down’s Syndrome Research.

A quote of Julie’s about the triathlon from her blog

I have to say, the triathlon was truly one of the hardest things I have done, mostly because it is sooo different from how I usually train and compete. I have never been a huge fan of cardio and endurance training is super tough for me. With all my knee surgeries, including the newest one that is not quite healed, I did have to pace myself on the run (for me that meant cycles of sprint… pound… ouch!… walk… recover) but the biking and swimming were incredible.

16 Year Old Wins NPC Atlantic State

16 year old Ariel Khadr won the fitness class at the recently held NPC Atlantic States competition.

The 5 foot tall 115lb Ariel is a level 10 gymnast, fitness/figure competitor, and a 2nd degree black belt in TaeKwonDo. She has won numerous titles, such as Ms Jr Fitness International, and Miss Jr Fitness America. An all-round athlete, she competes at level 10 gymnastics both in state and out of state, and has won state, regional, and national titles and is also a 7-time qualifier and medalist in the Junior Olympic TaeKwonDo championships,
