Carissa Moore at 17-years-old, has just beat the best women’s surfer in the world,Stephanie Gilmore of Australia,at the Gidget Pro. Carissa is a senior at Punahou School and qualified for the Gidget Pro by winning a trials heat held prior to the contest. Her rise in the sport began six years ago in her domination of amateur contests.

Winning big contests is not new to this young pro. Only last year, Carissa became the youngest surfer to win a Triple Crown of Surfing event with her win at the Hawaiian Pro at Hale’iwa Ali’i Beach. She has been compared to Kelly Slater, the best male surfer of all time. Her future is a bright one, full of new heights and incredible rides.
